This is a quick starter guide on how to use the Devious Desires mod, for players who have either never or barely used what is one of the most amazing Conan Exiles mods out there.
This mod can make your character and thralls do things you never imagined possible especially if used well, so I hope you find this helpful even if it’s the very basics.
Basics: Emoting with your own character
If you have never used Devious Desires before, press Shift+H to open the mod UI. There are dozens of emotes to choose from here so have a scroll through to see all the possibilities.
There are three main tabs: Regular, Devious and Partial. The Regular and Devious tabs contain body animations. Partial animations will only control your hands, but you can use these in combination with the other tabs to create an even wider variety of possibilities.
The Puppeteer Tab
While the standard animations work well enough, the Puppeteer menu allows you to enhance your animations like nothing else by allowing advanced limb and position control. If you’re into scene building or elaborate in-game screenshots it’s an absolute must-have skill to learn to use them!
To access the puppeteer menu (the Puppet-Man looking icon), click the icon in the Devious Desires menu.
I won’t go into every detail here since the UI does a good enough job of being self-explanatory. Just play around and experiment with the sliders, you’ll be surprised how just moving even a single limb can completely transform the default animations!
The Scene tab is only used for Partner animations, explained below.
Basic Partner Animations
Here’s how to do a partner animation with either another player or Thrall:
- Open the radial menu over your Target thrall, click Devious Desires then ‘Add Target’.
- Open the Devious Desires menu, then click Start/End scene. You will be positioned across from your target ready to perform an action.
- Play your desired partner animation.
- If you find that you are in the wrong gender position: Open the puppeteer menu -> Scenes Tab. Here, swap your player position using the arrows then click ‘Refresh’.
- You can also use the Scenes tab to select/deselect characters within the scene and perform actions with them individually. You might find the puppeteer limb sliders don’t work for thralls, I will explain how to fix that in a separate guide.
That’s the most basic way of performing a partner animation.
I would highly suggest to hotkey as many of these actions possible, especially if you think you’ll be using the mod a lot.
It is also possible to have thralls perform animations with each other which persist in the world, allowing you to create elaborate ‘scenes’. That’s a bit more tricky and covered in a separate guide.
Toggle Partner/Context Animations
While outside of a partner animation, you can click the Toggle Partner/Context animations button at the bottom of the Devious Desires menu (‘eye’ icon a the bottom) to view partner animation even while solo.
A lot of them might appear odd to use alone, many can still be used solo to create interesting effects all the same if you’re clever enough.
Spawning Dongs
If you’ve noticed that males aren’t exactly ‘excited’ for their partner while performing partner animations, this is because you need to spawn a custom Dong that will work with Devious Desires.
This is a bit tucked away in the Settings menu of Devious Desires (the Gear Icon); explore the catalogue and spawn your dong of choice.
Dongs have a ton of customisability in both the settings and puppeteer menu so that’s yet another thing for you to explore.
Hope you found this useful; make sure you share the joys of Devious Desires with as many players as you can!
